Southern Cross University - Degree Programs

Southern Cross University

Southern Cross University (SCU) is named after the constellation ‘Southern Cross’, which is only seen in the Southern Hemisphere. The University is located in one of Australia’s fastest growing regions where the indigenous and environmental heritage is fascinating, rich, and world-renowned. SCU is a dynamic, contemporary university with a diverse student population which ranges in ages, professional, social, and cultural backgrounds. Students particularly appreciate smaller classes and highly supportive learning environment. The environment in which the University operates has always been a bonus for students with easy access to spectacular beaches, marine environments, lush rainforest, and World Heritage National Parks. These serve as an inspiration as well as a living laboratory and provide a great lifestyle.

Location

Southern Cross University is based in Lismore in northern New South Wales, approximately one hour by air from Sydney and two hours drive from Brisbane. Students have easy access to these cities with regular daily flights available from Lismore, Ballina, and the Gold Coast. SCU’s Tweed Heads campus is located on the border of New South Wales and Queensland and the world-renowned Gold Coast is 90 minutes by car. The region is considered to be one of Australia's most beautiful with a warm subtropical climate, wonderful mountains, rainforest, and beaches. Students are able to experience a good quality of life with a cost of living, which is also significantly cheaper than in the larger Australian cities.

A word from our alumni
"It was honestly the most amazing experience of my life. I miss it everyday. I absolutely fell in love with both the land and people, the energy of the place pulsates with relaxed excitement...I feel as if there is where I belong. If you are looking to go abroad, make sure to choose the right location for you, because, I think at least, that is what could really make or break your experience."
