Southern Cross University (SCU) is named after the constellation ‘Southern Cross’, which is only seen in the Southern Hemisphere. The
University is located in one of Australia’s fastest growing regions where the indigenous and environmental heritage is fascinating, rich, and world-renowned. Location
Southern Cross University is based in Lismore in northern New South Wales, approximately one hour by air from Sydney and two hours drive from Brisbane. Students have easy access to these cities with regular daily flights available from Lismore, Ballina, and the Gold Coast. SCU’s Tweed Heads campus is located on the border of New South Wales and Queensland and the world-renowned Gold Coast is 90 minutes by car. The region is considered to be one of Australia's most beautiful with a warm subtropical climate, wonderful mountains, rainforest, and beaches. Students are able to experience a good quality of life with a cost of living, which is also significantly cheaper than in the larger Australian cities.
