Queensland University of Technology

RANKED #224 IN THE TOP 500 UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD BY THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION*

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a highly successful Australian university with an applied emphasis in courses and research. Based in Brisbane with a global outlook, it has 40,000 students, including 6,700 international students from more than 90 countries.

Location

Queensland University of Technology’s Gardens Point campus is the only city university campus with comprehensive facilities in the Brisbane central business district, situated next to the beautiful Botanic Gardens and the Brisbane River. The inner-city location reinforces QUT’s links with business and industry while creating a dynamic environment for students.

QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus is only 10 minutes away, and is the site of the award-winning Kelvin Grove Urban Village, setting a new benchmark for student accommodation and inner urban development. Students can easily walk to the city or university, and have access to brand-new student accommodation and a range of facilities within a convenient and safe village atmosphere.

Academic Highlights

University Life

As a QUT student you can benefit from state-of-the-art sporting facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, tennis, squash and basketball courts, fitness centres and athletics ovals. The QUT Student Guild operates licensed clubs and cafés on all campuses. Theatres on the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses contribute to the cultural life of our university and the Gardens Point campus even has its own art gallery.

Throughout the year, International Student Services (ISS) at QUT organises short trips and weekend activities for international students. All trips are made for the budget conscious student with prices set to cover the cost of running the trip.

ISS also operates the East West Program, which encourages interaction between international and local students and staff and promotes the sharing of skills and experiences. The Gardens Point Program promotes recreation opportunities such as trips and social functions, specific cross-cultural activities, accommodation services for international students and linkages with international student associations.

A word from our alumni
"I am an American student here in Australia and I am getting my master's degree and I also did a study abroad semester in
2005 in Australia through AustraLearn. I am very thankful for AustraLearn and the help that was given to me by the staff at Australearn. I am two weeks away from graduating with a master's degree and I am very excited. I have always and will continue to look for open job positions that are posted on AustraLearn because I would love to help give back and help change other students lives through study abroad."
