Custom Date Placements-Australia or New Zealand
Design an Internship to Meet Your Specific Needs
Location: Any city in Australia or New Zealand
Custom Date Internship placements are available for students who are unable to participate in one of our PDAC placements for any one of the following reasons:
- You do not meet the minimum GPA or college level requirements.
- You cannot attend the program during the pre-set PDAC dates.
- You need an internship of a duration other than 10 weeks.
AustraLearn Custom Date Internships are available in most every field of study. These one-of-a kind placements can accommodate a variety of start and end dates and program lengths of 6-26 weeks. In the required cover letter, applicants should detail the type of internship that they are seeking and their desired start and end dates. The success rate of these placements is very high, and students marvel at being able to intern with organizations that most closely mirror their desired experience.
In general, it is possible to start an AustraLearn Custom Date Internship at any time; however, applications must be completed at least four months prior to the desired internship start date. AustraLearn will try to match up these dates as closely as possible, but we suggest that the applicants have some flexibility.
Program fees vary with the actual finalized program length. Once you have submitted your completed application with all supporting documentation, including a specific cover letter, and have paid the initial deposit, our overseas staff members in Australia and New Zealand will find an internship placement to meet your needs. Your application MUST be received at least four months prior to your intended start date.
Most aspects of the custom date internship placements are the same as the PDAC placements. For instance, housing, on-site support services, and pre-departure services are similar across both types of programs. However, the custom designed internships do not include a Program Introduction because of the varying start dates for each placement. You will receive a welcome packet and an orientation phone call upon arrival in Australia or New Zealand. Additionally, custom designed internship placements do not carry credit from Chapman University; however, you can often arrange credit with your home university. You will want to speak with advisors at your home university about the processes and assessments they will require.

Advice From The Coordinator: International internships look incredibly impressive on your resume, especially when they’re the type of quality placement that AustraLearn provides. Interns get practical experience in their chosen field and are not subject to the busy work that many employers request when they know they have free labor. The integrity of the program is never compromised and students gain a wealth of cultural and professional knowledge; knowledge that is very marketable when they begin their career. Internships are an excellent option for students looking to get both work and international experience at the same time and at an affordable price. |
