With an 80-year tradition of academic excellence, Massey is one of New Zealand’s largest universities, with some 38,000 students enrolled both internally and via distance learning. Of the 20,000 students study on-campus, around 4000 are international students from over 100 countries.

Massey offers 3 campus locations in Auckland (Albany), Palmerston North (Manawatu), and Wellington. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad students can attend any one of Massey’s three campuses.
LOCATION
WELLINGTON
A niche campus of approximately 4,000 students, Massey Wellington is home to Massey’s highly prestigious College of Creative Arts. Wellington students typically study design, communications, journalism, fine arts, and music. Here, history and tradition combine with cutting-edge research and funky vibes. Nearby Cuba Street and Courtenay Place, at the heart of Wellington’s artistic and entertainment quarters, offer a perfect backdrop, making this a truly exciting, lively and inspiring place to live, learn and grow.
PALMERSTON NORTH
Currently home to 9000 Massey students, The Manawatu campus in Palmerston North, is Massey’s ’s largest, and original campus (1927).
This campus offers an impressive range of professional and applied programs in the areas of physical & natural sciences, technology, engineering, agriculture, animal science, food & nutrition, health, sport, business, arts, psychology, Maori and education.
Palmerston North, is a vibrant, young person’s city with nearly half of its 80,000 population under 25 years. With many great cafes, restaurants, cinema, live theatre and sporting facilities all within close proximity, this is an easy city to get around whether by foot, bus or bicycle. Bus services are frequent and free for Massey students, both to and from campus and all around town.
For the more adventurous, nearby options includes river kayaking, equestrian facilities and some challenging mountain biking tracks, while ski fields, tramping, surfing, bungee jumping and numerous other outdoor pursuits are all within a day trip.

AUCKLAND
Located in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city of 1,400,000, Massey’s Innovative Albany Campus has approximately 7,000 students. Established around 15 years ago on Auckland’s popular North Shore, Massey’s Albany campus is New Zealand’s most modern campus. With its distinctive Spanish-architectural style, state-of-the-art facilities, free parking and progressive feel, this campus offers a truly unique and inspiring setting highly conducive to study.
This fast-growing campus has forged strong business and community links, allowing students to undertake postgraduate
work and research with national companies and large community service providers. The prestigious e-Center, which
fosters and incubates company start-ups, is just one of example of Massey’s many key research and industry partnerships.
ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS
Massey has a reputation of academic excellence and leadership across a wide range of disciplines, and is for example, New Zealand’s premiere and largest institution for life sciences, agricultural, horticultural, and veterinary teaching and research, and is a leader in industrial innovation through areas such as food science and technology, biotechnology, advanced materials sciences, and product development. The School of Design at Massey Wellington is New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious design school, established in 1886, and has a reputation for excellence in international quality art and design education. Massey has the largest business school in New Zealand with 17 different majors at the undergraduate level. The University’s strengths also include aviation, communications, journalism, environmental and ecological studies, engineering, genetics, human nutrition, health sciences, psychology, performance jazz, sociology, and sports studies.
UNIVERSITY LIFE
New Zealand’s newest and most modern university campus, Massey Albany, is located on the North Shore of Auckland city. The campus is conveniently located within a 5 minute drive of the beautiful North Shore swimming beaches and 20 minutes from the Auckland CBD. Auckland is popularly known as the “City of Sails” because of the hundreds of yachts to be seen in its three harbours. A city of immigrants from its inception, Auckland’s colourful mix of European, Maori, Pacific Island and Asian cultures makes it our most international city. The sophisticated urban environment, great climate and numerous leisure options has the Auckland lifestyle ranked amongst the best in the world.
The Massey Manawatu campus at Palmerston North has two sister sites of Turitea, the larger, renowned for its beautiful park-like setting, and Hokowhitu, situated nearby on the banks of the picturesque Manawatu River, just minutes from the city centre. The campus boasts
great sport facilities including eight rugby fields, an award winning recreation centre, the Institute of Sport and Rugby, an equestrian centre and all-weather Olympic standard athletics track. Palmerston North offers all modern conveniences, including an energetic arts and entertainment scene, while maintaining the friendly warmth of heartland New Zealand. Boasting the lowest cost of living of any university city, and with almost half its total population under the age of 25 and close to 40% of its total population engaged in postsecondary study, Palmerston North truly is the “Student City”!
The Massey Wellington campus, known as the “Creative” campus , centrally located campus in the heart of the Wellington arts and cultural district, includes the magnificent National Museum building, and a newly-built café, bar and student common room. The seat of New Zealand government, Wellington is also headquarters of national organisations including the New Zealand Stock Exchange, the Reserve Bank, the Museum of New Zealand, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the National Opera. A magnet for creative and innovative people, Wellington is also headquarters to film director Peter Jackson’s Academy Award winning Weta Workshop.
