Budgeting for a January and Summer Short Course Program

It is important while you plan your experience that you consider all of the costs associated with studying abroad.

While budgeting, be sure to consider all potential sources for scholarships and aid:

  • Does your home university study abroad office offer scholarships?
  • Does your department of study offer scholarships for study abroad
  • Federal Financial Aid - ask your financial aid office if you can apply for financial aid or if your aid can be applied for a short term program.
  • Does your GlobaLinks Learning Abroad study abroad program have a scholarship you can apply for?

Make sure to also ask the following questions of yourself when budgeting for a study abroad experience:

  • What does my specific program include? What does it not include?
  • How much extra spending money do I want to bring for excursions, souvenirs and any meals or outings not included in my program?
  • Do I want to travel before or after my program?

While a short course program may appear more expensive than study at your home university, the truth is that you can't afford not to go! In today's job market, employers are looking for global citizens with cross-cultural experience who can contribute to a multi-cultural work environment. Your international education experience is a character and resume-building opportunity that will benefit you long into your future. There are ways to make your Study Abroad experience a reality and we are here to assist you.

**Please note that due to the nature of short term programs, program fees are subject to change at any time if minimum number of participants is not met by the application deadline. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad will notify all students if a program fee may be altered after invoicing has taken place.
