Cost of Living in New Zealand

The cost of living in New Zealand is similar to that of the U.S. or Canada. It varies according to the location of the host university, the style of accommodation choosen and your lifestyle. In general, living costs are higher in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch and lower in the smaller cities.

It is estimated that a student will need only about US$6,500 a year, in addition to tuition and fees, to cover living expenses such as accommodation, food, transportation, textbooks, and entertainment. Extensive travel around New Zealand/region also adds up and students should plan additional costs associated with travel and excursions.
