Pre-arranged accommodation may be located on campus in a residence hall (“residential college”) or in an apartment near campus. Housing is available with and/or without meals depending upon the institution. See the housing information on each university profile for information about the accommodation options at each institution. Meal plans cater towards various tastes, although the selection and variety may be more limited than you are used to in the United States or Canada. If you are a strict vegetarian, we encourage you to consider choosing pre-arranged accommodation that offers self-catering facilities where you will shop for your own groceries and prepare your meals in a shared kitchen. Pre-arranged accommodation without meals options are typically apartments or houses located on or near campus. You will share living space and kitchen facilities with other students but will typically have your own bedroom (twin share may be available). Bathrooms may be private or shared, depending on the option. Grocery stores can be found within walking or bus distance and will offer most of the foods that you are accustomed to purchasing at home. In most cases, there will be additional costs such as utilities, TV rental, phone line, and Internet installation. Residential Colleges (or Halls of Residences) are a good place to meet local students and learn about Australian campus life. Accommodation is either co-ed or single sex. Student rooms are allocated based upon the date of initial payment and submission of your housing form. Some colleges have meal plans for purchase. Homestay options may be available in certain locations. If you are interested in this option, please contact us for more information. |
