While GlobaLinks Learning Abroad offers guaranteed pre-arranged housing options, you may want to become even more a part of the local community by locating and leasing an apartment near the university on your own. Many GlobaLinks Learning Abroad students choose this option and have either found apartments together or moved in with other local students.
Apartments are usually shared with two or more people and are rented and paid for directly through the landlord or management company, thus accommodation located upon arrival is not included in the GlobaLinks Learning Abraod program fees. In most cases, choosing to arrange your own accommodation requires that you arrive a full week prior to the start of the term to allow yourself sufficient time to find a home. Assistance will be given with the arrangement of temporary accommodation, payable upon arrival, where you will reside while you find a suitable location.
You should consider expenses for food, gas, electricity, phone, Internet, and/or TV rental as well as other costs associated with apartment living. Students locating accommodation upon arrival should be prepared to pay rent on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
