Social Science Internships in New Zealand and Australia

Location: Any City in Australia or New Zealand

The unique cultures of Australia and New Zealand make either country an ideal location to gain practical experience in the social sciences. Participating in an international internship in this field will give the student a view of social issues of another country and how those issues are managed. Placements can deal with numerous social science areas like migrant resources, youth protection, youth at risk, family relationships, family planning, sexual health awareness, psychology, addiction, rural issues, women’s issues, and post-prison reintroduction. Interns can expect to focus on an assortment of internship duties in this field. Some of these include observing counseling sessions, managing temporary accommodation for youths, conducting research, developing programs, attending parliamentary meeting, attending conferences, and performing basic administrative tasks. Many of the placements in the field deal with children. Therefore, applicants should be prepared to complete background checks and are encouraged to apply early to complete this process.

Please see the current available placements in the navigation items on the left of this page. However, if none of those placements fit what you are looking for, just let us know and we will find one that does. During the application, you will write a cover letter that includes your goals and interests for your internship. Your GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internship Coordinator will then work with you to match up your learning goals and interests with the best available internship placement.
