| The Professional Development for No Credit (PDNC) Internship Program is designed to offer students a shorter-term internship experience without credit. This unique professional development experience is geared toward students who only have a short timeframe available to intern abroad, but still seek to gain international exposure to their field of study. During this professional development 6 week internship, you should expect to be fully engaged and focused during the placement to maximize your learning experience. This 6-week, pre-set internship includes AustraLearn prearranged group flight services (the cost of the flight is separate), the AustraLearn in-country group Bridging Cultures Program, comprehensive Health and Travel Coverage, an International Cell Phone, and our In-Country Support Services. Internship Assessment As the name indicates, the Professional Development for No Credit Internship Program does not include pre-arranged credit. However, in addition to the hours that you will work at the internship site, you will have standard written assessment items to complete. These assignments will help guide you throughout your internship experience by helping you establish realistic expectations and set and track goals so that you are maximizing your short stay in Australia or New Zealand. Your internship site supervisor will also be required to submit a mid-term and final evaluation so that we can track your performance. If you require academic credit for your 6 week PDNC program, you will need to arrange this directly with your home university. Before departure, you will be asked to provide AustraLearn with all of the details on the assessment your home university requires so that we can make the necessary arrangements with your internship site. Eligibility For a Professional Development No Credit Internship, you must be between the ages of 18-30 and be a citizen of the US or Canada or from another country that is eligible for a visa that will allow you to intern in Australia or New Zealand. Due to immigration restrictions in both countries, if you are not a US or Canadian citizen, AustraLearn will need to verify that there is an appropriate visa that will allow you to participate in this internship program. As with our other programs, this opportunity is available to both current students as well as recent graduates. Whether you are a high school graduate, a current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent college graduate, we can find an internship to meet up with your needs and skills and you can utilize this unique opportunity to gain international experience and learn about your chosen profession. A 2.5 GPA is required. Group Activities Upon arrival in the country, you will attend our AustraLearn Bridging Cultures Program where you will be able to network and interact with other participants that will also be in country. We will also provide valuable tips on interning overseas and cultural difference you may experience. The pre-set start date allows us to arrange for a group flight at a discounted rate. After the Bridging Cultures Program, you will depart to your specific internship city. All of our internship opportunities are ultimately very independent programs and there may not be other AustraLearn interns at your internship site or in your housing arrangement. This gives you the rare opportunity to truly integrate into the host culture. AustraLearn will continue to remain in contact throughout your internship experience for any support you may need. Each of these added benefits give you a way to meet other international interns that will be in the country at the same time providing a few familiar faces around the city while you settle into your new culture. 2010 Dates and Deadlines The PDNC internship program starts one time per year, lasts 6 weeks, and the dates are not flexible.
