Attractions in Rockhampton, QLD

Within the city checkout the Rockhampton Art Gallery which features major paintings by Australian artists or The Pilbeam Theatre with a multitude of national and international performances. For the best indigenous cultural experiences, go to the Dreamtime Cultural Center. Dreamtime is Australia's largest Aboriginal Cultural Center set in some 30 acres of natural bush land on Ancient Tribal Sites. 130 years old, the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens are regarded as one of the best gardens in Australia. While you’re there visit the diverse range of wildlife at the Rockhampton Zoo.

 

Get out of the city and to the Capricorn Caves. Formed from magnificent limestone the Caves have wild caving adventure tours. The gorgeous Capricorn Coast is just east of Rockhampton and allows you to enjoy the beautiful beaches, visit the local fauna park to cuddle a koala, or tour the crocodile farm to see the baby crocs hatch. Views from the Capricorn Coast beaches are of Great and North Keppel Islands. The many smaller islands act as stepping stones to the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. For the more adventurous, activities include scuba diving, skydiving and camel treks. Rising out of Rockhampton's north-eastern suburbs, Mt Archer National Park provides magnificent views of the city, and showcases a spectacular range of native Australian flora and fauna. Sunsets from the top of Mt Archer are spectacular or take a leisurely walk along one of Mt Archer's many walking tracks, and enjoy the view from several lookouts.
