Public Transportation in Newcastle
 

Buses, taxis and ferries are all good ways to move around. Cycling is also a popular option. You can catch a train to Sydney and flying with Qantas gets you even further.
 


Fare Free Bus Zone

State Transit buses (thats the blue and white ones) are FREE within the inner city zone. The fare free zone operates between 7:30am and 6:00pm seven days a week. This is a fantastic way to get around the inner city for free without the hassles of driving and parking. Normal fares apply for travel outside of this zone. Ask the bus driver if you are unsure of the route or detination.

Port Stephens Coaches

Port Stephens Coaches provide the following services to and from Newcastle:
Newcastle Airport (Williamtown) 11 times a day during the week, and 5 times a day on weekends
Port Stephens- stopping at Fern Bay, Salt Ash, Anna Bay, Salamander Shores, Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay.

Tickets are purchased on the bus and no bookings are necessary.
