| U.S. study abroad students at International College of Management, Sydney organized and successfully ran a large special event and benefit concert at the ICMS campus that raised $10,000 for three primary schools in Victoria destroyed in the terrible bush-fires earlier in the year. The “Victorian Bushfires Benefit Concert” on March 22. 2009 drew 600 people from around Sydney. They got various Australian celebrities and performance troupes to appear. They also got thousands of dollars in donations from local businesses for prizes, food and a silent auction. The faculty head of the event management program, Ann-Marie Flynn, said “the students gained invaluable experience in event coordination, venue management, stage management, entertainment and talent booking, fundraising activities, sponsorship management and supplier management.” The video below features a brief introduction from an AustraLearn ICMS student, Vanessa Snelgrove of Grand Valley State Univ in Michigan.
