Macquarie University offers students the opportunity to volunteer while they are studying in Australia. As an international student, volunteers have the opportunity to meet and working alongside "real" Australians. University ServicesThe Macquarie Abroad at Macquarie University coordinates all study abroad students, from application through to arrival, accommodation, orientation and enrollment. Ongoing pastoral care is also provided, including referral to counseling and health services, as well as organizing weekend trips and other social events.
The Dean of Students provides academic and procedural advice to students and acts as a liaison between students and the University.
The University's library provides seating for 1,850 readers, with a collection of over one million books and periodicals. It is open for 82 hours per week during the semester, with shorter hours outside of the semester. It has two CD-ROM networks, and there are 40 online catalogue terminals.
The Office of Computing Services runs several major computers, which are connected to the University Backbone Network, which is connected to the Australian Academic and Research Network. There are many terminals available for students all around the university. Students are able to set up their own Macquarie email accounts.HousingPre-arranged accommodation is provided in self-catering shared apartments, which are generally walking distance from the campus.OrientationGetting to know Australia, Sydney, and Macquarie University upon arrival is a challenge in itself. The Macquarie Abroad team conducts an orientation to give you a taste of what to expect and how to get the most out of your experience.
The orientation is held the week prior to the commencement of classes and covers issues including settling in to Sydney, culture shock, accommodation, health insurance, student clubs and societies, email access, study skills, weekend trips, and social events. We’ll also introduce you to some of the local wildlife and keep you on your toes with some uniquely Australian fun and games!

Entry RequirementsApplicants must have the required GPA and have completed at least the equivalent of one year of full-time study at the university/college level.

Study-Internship ProgramEligible students can undertake a part-time internship placement to complement their study abroad program at Macquarie University and enhance their resumes with international work experience.
The internship will be a formal part of students’ Macquarie studies and they will receive academic credit. Students will intern for between 10-20 hours per week for 12 weeks and will be assessed by visits, interviews, reports, and a major assignment. Internship placements can be arranged in a variety of disciplines including business administration, marketing, biomedical sciences, computer science, media, communications, finance, psychology, and public relations (others not mentioned will be considered).

In cooperation with Macquarie University and the Rosko family, this award is open to students studying at Macquarie University majoring in Mass Communications, Journalism, or Advertising with a 3.5 GPA. Students must have substantial financial need with documented involvement in their university and community.
In memory of Ms. Gina Rosko, daughter of Jimmie and Marlene Rosko of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and sister to Ashlee Christine Rosko, this scholarship was created to honor the accomplishments of a remarkable student who died in a car accident in Australia on Monday, August 7, 2000. Gina was attending Macquarie University as a study abroad student through the AustraLearn program.
Born on November 16, 1978 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Gina was a graduate of Tremper High School and in her fourth year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, studying journalism/advertising. Her collegiate memberships and awards included Golden Key National Honor Society, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Deans’ List, Phi Eta Sigma, Public Relations Student Society of America, and teaching assistant for American Indian Ethnic Studies. She also had articles published in the UWM newspaper, The Post. Caroline graduated from Colorado State University with a B.A. in Public Relations with a minor in Business. Through her study abroad travels she studied at Bond University on the Gold Coast of Australia. While abroad her travels included the east coast of Australia, as well as a roadtrip around the South Island of New Zealand.
