If you prefer to spend your time skydiving, white-water rafting, horse riding, sailing, or mountain biking, the UTS Union Recreation and Adventure programs are a great way to explore and make new friends outside the classroom. HousingThe UTS Housing Services offer pre-arranged housing in shared apartments that are furnished and self-catered. If students wish, they can also choose independently organized accommodation arranged upon arrival.OrientationUTS organizes a comprehensive International Student Orientation Program (ISOP) for new students before each semester. This program is designed to familiarize new students with the university's services and facilities and to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of living and studying in central Sydney.
The orientation week is supported by UTS staff and our “Peer Network”, who are a large group of experienced UTS students who volunteer to make sure that new international students can get the most out of their UTS experience.
ISOP includes a series of campus tours, faculty welcomes, and academic counseling sessions, social activities on and around the campus and optional short trips and adventure programs. Program Fees include tuition for 3 to 4 subjects, university administrative fees, membership in the student union (where applicable), overseas health coverage, ISIC Premium (International Student Identity Card), 25% Lonely Planet Book discount, also included is our renowned 4-day Program Introduction in Tropical Cairns, Australia. Fees include all pre-trip services such as: orientation materials, visa-processing service (excluding the visa fee), housing placements, personal advising, subject selections, liaise with your home university, credit transfer assistance, and financial aid services.
As a study abroad student, you will be required to enroll as a full time student. Your semester is equivalent to 12-16 U.S. credits. Additional tuition and/or fees may apply in some subject areas not limited to the following: science, engineering, fine arts, and journalism. Students who undertake subjects where the university requires additional fees will be billed by the host university. Several universities have included the Sports and Rec. membership. Activities are usually extra.
The Housing Fee is in addition to the Program Fees and may be an average for universities with multiple housing options. BIO:
Bri is a coordinator for AustraLearn's study abroad programs. She is the coordinator for Australia National University, Macquarie University, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, and University of Technology-Sydney, all in Australia.
Bri received her BA in History and Politics from Regis University in Denver, and a minor in Leadership Studies. She studied abroad in London, England, and during her time abroad, she was able to see Scotland, Sweden, France, and Belgum. Bri is also an AustraLearn alum from the short course Leadership program in New Zealand

UTS is a great university option for students looking for an urban study abroad experience. The university is surrounded by a great variety of shops, museums, cafes, restaurants, and nightlife. Due to the large student population in the area, the options for those on a budget are plentiful! Students also looking for a multicultural city will be happy to know that Chinatown is a short walk away. |
