University of South Australia

RANKED #295 IN THE TOP 500 UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD BY THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION*

UniSA is a modern and progressive institution that is internationally recognized for offering professionally relevant and career focused programs, for providing exemplary student support services, and for providing students access to state-of-the-art facilities. Our reputation for excellence earned UniSA a ranking in the top 200 universities in the world in 2005. (Source: The Times Higher Education Supplement, October 2005). The Good Universities Guide, an independent and respected guide to Australian universities, continues to award UniSA high ratings for the diversity of our student culture. In recent years, we have also won a number of significant awards and commendations for our strategic approach to education and academic teaching.

Location

Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia located between white sandy beaches and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Adelaide has a population of 1.2 million people, which makes it large enough to cater for your needs and interests yet small enough to make moving around the city a simple matter. Adelaide is a popular destination for students because it: • is one of the most affordable capital cities in Australia; • is a safe city with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere; • is accessible and convenient (facilitated by a good public transport system including free bus transport within the city); • is not crowded; and • has a great climate!

Academic Highlights

In the Faculty of Education, Arts, and Social Sciences, practical experience is integral to many programs, for example: • Journalism students have the opportunity to run a news service at a local radio station; and • Media arts students can complete their own production from concept to completion. The South Australian School of Art is one of the oldest in the country and offers a full suite of visual art courses including glass forming, ceramics, photography, and jewelry making. The Division of Business is accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). The Faculty of Business offers the only Sport and Recreation Management program in South Australia. This program provides students with two field placements that can be undertaken in students’ home countries. The Faculty of Information Technology, Engineering, and the Environment offers South Australia’s largest environmental management degree incorporating laboratory work, field trips, camps, and industry-based assignments.
