The University of Sydney, founded in 1850, is Australia's first university. Over the past 150 years, the University has built an international reputation for its outstanding teaching and as a center of research excellence. It is one of the largest universities in Australia, with over 47,000 students, including 9,000 international students from more than 100 different countries. The University of Sydney has a worldwide reputation for high-quality teaching, and is consistently ranked amongst the top universities in the Asia-Pacific. It is a member of the Group of 8 (a group of Australia’s major research universities). It is one of only three Australian members of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) – a group of prestigious universities with members from Asia, the United States and South America. It is also a key member of the Academic Consortium 21, which encourages global cooperation for the benefit of higher education and world and regional society.

 

 

Location

 

The central campus is five minutes from the center of the city and twenty minutes from stunning ocean beaches. Sydney is Australia’s most exciting city. The suburbs of Glebe and Newtown, next to the main campus, are centers of student life - full of trendy shops and cafes offering food of all types. The graceful historic buildings and spacious grass lawns and gardens create an atmosphere of tradition, serenity and elegance which students find inspirational.

The THES also ranks the University as the 5th best in the World in the area of humanities. Newsweek lists us in the Top 50 Global universities. The University of Sydney gained the highest number of five-star ratings in the Australian Good Universities Guide 2005. We are also the Australian leader in research citations and competitive research funding* and one of Australia’s top three universities for international standing**. Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sydney, Professor Gavin Brown AO, says: “Our continued success reflects our position as a world-class institution. There are now many rankings, each based on different criteria, and Sydney continues to rise in them all.” The University of Sydney consistently finishes well ahead of all other universities in the competition for Australian Research Council grants. It has the largest number of research programs and research students of any Australian university.

 

The university is also AACSB accredited. AACSB International is an association of more than 1,100 educational institutions, businesses, and other organizations in 70 countries, devoted to the advancement of higher education in management education. The AustraLearn Degree Program Team Coordinators manage the student admission and pre-departure processes to our Australian and New Zealand member universities.

We provide assistance and advice on program options, submitting applications, accepting offers, banking and financing an overseas education, the visa application process, as well as, travel and housing arrangements.
