You will work together to identify a target group, develop a marketing plan, and carry out their strategy for each component, actually achieving results that will rate the success of both projects. Interns will receive guidance and suggestions from the supervisor, but ultimately, this is a project that encourages creativity and room to utilize unique ideas. There will also be opportunities for involvement in game day event planning. You'll gain real-world experience with a professional basketball organization, significant training, and networking opportunities -- all of which will look great on your resume.  Please note that the actual basketball season runs September-March.

Strategic Marketing-Education

International Education Marketing Internship

Location: Wellington, North Island, New Zealand

This is the umbrella industry body for institutions involved in international education. The recruitment of international students into New Zealand’s education system is a significant contributor to the country's education, economics, and culture. At present international students account for New Zealand’s fifth largest export earner, valued at NZD $1.9 Billion per annum. This organization is responsible for the generic promotion of New Zealand as a study destination.

They seek an intern with an academic background in marketing to undertake the following three tasks:

  • Project Management: based around specific offshore marketing events, sole or joint management of a short term project from commencement to delivery.
  • Strategy Development: advancing existing research relating to relationships with external stakeholders (specifically offshore education agents). This involves writing a plan for multi-market expansion of a group loyalty scheme and may involve further research, industry consultation and policy writing.
  • Depending upon the outcome of the above strategy development work, presentation of research findings and recommendations to the industry’s annual Conference in Christchurch (they will pay return travel expenses to/from conference).

Custom Date Internships

Design an Internship to Meet Your Specific Needs

Location: Any city in Australia or New Zealand

Custom Date Internship placements are available for students who are unable to participate in one of our PDAC placements for any one of the following reasons:

  • You do not meet the minimum GPA or college level requirements.
  • You cannot attend the program during the pre-set PDAC dates.
  • You need an internship of a duration other than 10 weeks.

AustraLearn Custom Date Internships are available in most every field of study. These one-of-a kind placements can accommodate a variety of start and end dates and program lengths of 6-26 weeks. In the required cover letter, applicants should detail the type of internship that they are seeking and their desired start and end dates. The success rate of these placements is very high, and students marvel at being able to intern with organizations that most closely mirror their desired experience.

In general, it is possible to start an AustraLearn Custom Date Internship at any time; however, applications must be completed at least four months prior to the desired internship start date. AustraLearn will try to match up these dates as closely as possible, but we suggest that the applicants have some flexibility.

Program fees vary with the actual finalized program length. Once you have submitted your completed application with all supporting documentation, including a specific cover letter, and have paid the initial deposit, our overseas staff members in Australia and New Zealand will find an internship placement to meet your needs. Your application MUST be received at least four months prior to your intended start date.

Most aspects of the custom date internship placements are the same as the PDAC placements. For instance, housing, on-site support services, and pre-departure services are similar across both types of programs. However, the custom designed internships do not include a Program Introduction because of the varying start dates for each placement. You will receive a welcome packet and an orientation phone call upon arrival in Australia or New Zealand. Additionally, custom designed internship placements do not carry credit from Chapman University; however, you can often arrange credit with your home university. You will want to speak with advisors at your home university about the processes and assessments they will require.

AustraLearn Coordinator

Name:Barbara West
Title:Manager, Internship Programs
Department:Internships in Australia and New Zealand
BIO:
Barbara manages the enrollment services and program facilitation of the Internship Program.

Barbara graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with a BA in German and Geography. She studied for a year abroad in Giessen, Germany and has traveled through out the United States, Europe, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Hong Kong.

Advice From The Coordinator:
International internships look incredibly impressive on your resume, especially when they’re the type of quality placement that AustraLearn provides. Interns get practical experience in their chosen field and are not subject to the busy work that many employers request when they know they have free labor. The integrity of the program is never compromised and students gain a wealth of cultural and professional knowledge; knowledge that is very marketable when they begin their career. Internships are an excellent option for students looking to get both work and international experience at the same time and at an affordable price.
A word from our alumni
"I love my internship!!! The faculty at Welly High is great, and the students are really fun to work with. I especially enjoyed working with the science department! My accommodations at Millie's have been spectacular too! Miriam is super nice--we eat meals together, go on weekend outings, and she invites her artist friends over for dinner sometimes too!"
