| The GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Study Internship Combination Programs allow you take a part-time load of classes (one to three, depending on the university) at select Australian or New Zealand universities while undertaking a professional internship in your area of interest at a local company. For many students this is an ideal arrangement, offering immersion into both collegiate and work environments. You will receive credit from the host university, for both the classes and the internship, on an official university transcript and be considered a full-time student. Some universities require additional forms/application materials for the internship components; GlobaLinks Learning Abroad will advise you of what is needed. For example, you may be asked to write a statement of interest or submit a resume, so that the university can best place you. Placements are limited and not guaranteed, and in most cases, internships cannot be finalized before you arrive at the university overseas. If you are considering the Semester Internship Combination Program, a flexible attitude is key. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad accepts you into the study program, but the university must accept you separately into the internship component. The universities themselves arrange the internships and place the students with host companies, however some companies will only take on a student following an in-person interview. There is also a chance that an internship will not be available to you, so please be prepared that you may instead be only able to do the study component and take a full load of classes. Each university arranges the placements differently, and in isolated cases, additional fees may apply. All internships are unpaid, but the experience you gain will be invaluable and make you shine on a resume. Consider it an investment into your future career. *Some U.S. and Canadian Universities require students to earn letter grades in order for an internship experience to count toward your degree. Some universities will accept pass/fail grades. Listed below are the study internship combo programs that will award letter grades vs. pass/fail grades.
