| The AustraLearn Program Introduction in Rotorua, New Zealand - on the North Island - is our on-site orientation designed exclusively for AustraLearn study abroad students to New Zealand. You will arrive in Auckland on your designated group flight and be transported by bus 90 minutes to Rotorua to participate in this exciting four-day orientation to study abroad. The Program Introduction includes a variety of sessions focused on providing you with information relating to the country and culture in which you will be living as well as the opportunity to explore some specific aspects of New Zealand through excursions. Our unique Program Introduction will offer you the opportunity to not only meet other students going to the same university, but it will also prepare you for the cultural changes that you may encounter. Offered exclusively to AustraLearn students, our aim is to provide you with a sound introduction to New Zealand while enjoying some of New Zealand’s main attractions. - Health and Safety Abroad – specific information related to New Zealand laws and infrastructure.
- New Zealand Education System – gain insight on the expectations of New Zealand professors and institutions.
- Cultural Adjustment – what to expect from yourself in your new environment.
- Travel Destinations and suggestions for getting there.
Excursions Excursions can vary and can change at any time; however, the following activities are typically included in each Program Introduction:  - An evening visit to the Tamaki Maori Village for a traditional hangi (feast) and entertainment in the form of traditional Maori.
- Visit to Rainbow Springs to explore the flora and fauna of New Zealand and gain an intriguing view into the rich agriculture of the country.
- Zorbing - a unique way to ride down a 200 m hill inside a giant rubber ball. Transport is included, but the activity is an additional cost.
- Waitomo Glow Worm Caves - a unique caving experience in the underground world of the North Island.
Other Highlights You’ll also enjoy social time with other students who will be attending the same university – a great chance to really get to know other students prior to arriving at the university. Plus, you’ll gain exposure to a unique region of New Zealand and even have some free time to explore the fabulous city of Rotorua. |
