| AustraLearn provides numerous scholarships to students applying for a semester or year abroad through the AustraLearn program. Students will be required to fill out a full scholarship application for all AustraLearn specific scholarships by the required deadline to be eligible for consideration of an award. An application will be made available to all eligible participants upon acceptance to the AustraLearn program. All awards are determined by a specific scholarship committee, and all decisions are final. Scholarships are not guaranteed. Travel Grants (sponsored by STA Travel, Qantas Airways, Air New Zealand and Air Pacific for the AustraLearn program) Each semester, through the generosity of STA Travel, Qantas Airways, Air New Zealand, and Air Pacific selected participants are awarded scholarships equal to the international round-trip airfare cost to/from Australia, New Zealand, or Fiji. Gina Rosko Memorial Scholarship In cooperation with Macquarie University and the Rosko family, this award is open to students studying at Macquarie University majoring in Mass Communications, Journalism, or Advertising with a 3.5 GPA. Students must have substantial financial need with documented involvement in their university and community. In memory of Ms. Gina Rosko, daughter of Jimmie and Marlene Rosko of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and sister to Ashlee Christine Rosko, this scholarship was created to honor the accomplishments of a remarkable student who died in a car accident in Australia on Monday, August 7, 2000. Gina was attending Macquarie University as a study abroad student through the AustraLearn program. Born on November 16, 1978 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Gina was a graduate of Tremper High School and in her fourth year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, studying journalism/advertising. Her collegiate memberships and awards included Golden Key National Honor Society, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Deans’ List, Phi Eta Sigma, Public Relations Student Society of America, and teaching assistant for American Indian Ethnic Studies. She also had articles published in the UWM newspaper, The Post. In her memorial service, friends and family paid tribute to Gina’s life and her “magical ability to connect with others.” Gina’s family hopes that all students can continue to experience all that life has to offer and that we all remember count our blessings along the way.
