The Fijian culture is incredibly unique and extremely welcoming - Fijians are typically friendly, communal, traditional, and always up for a good time.  3. Fijian cuisine reflects the South Pacific, Indian, and tropical influences in the country, so expect plenty of seafood, fresh fruit, root plants, coconut milk, and curry flavors. 4. The city of Suva provides a multicultural setting with good shopping and recreational facilities and an excellent transportation system. 5. Living in Suva provides great access to beautiful beaches for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and surfing. The nearest beach, Pacific Harbor, is within 30 minutes, and Coral Coast is within a couple hours by bus. 6. Island hopping - Spend your weekends exploring any number of the over 300 outlaying islands for even more adventures.  7. The year-round tropical climate leads to a very casual fashion style. Get ready to feel relaxed even in your daily dress. 8. Walking down the street and saying hello (bula!) to complete strangers is a common expression of Fiji’s friendly culture. 9. The sport of rugby is by far Fiji’s most popular sport, and all are encouraged to give the sport a try. 10. The concept of “Fiji Time” means no one is in a hurry and you will never be criticized by your mates for being late. |
